Officers of the North Eastern Division Gang Unit seized a high-powered rifle, a large quantity of ammunition, security protective wear, camouflage clothing, and vehicle number plates, during an intensive, intelligence-led anti-crime exercise today.
Based on information received, surveillance exercises were carried out, which led to the operation, which was conducted at Granado Street, 2nd Caledonia, Morvant.
During the exercise officers searched an abandoned dwelling house and the surrounding area, where the following items were found buried in the yard:
One AR15 rifle
Four t-shirts with the marking ‘POLICE’
3 camouflage jackets
2 camouflage bullet-proof jackets
1 camouflage trousers
4 pairs of vehicle number plates
10 Special Police Badges
9 rifle magazines
1 extended 9-millimetre magazine
2 rifle firearm grips
81 rounds of 5.56-millimetre ammunition
116 rounds of 45-millimetre ammunition
48 rounds of .45 millimetre ammunition
81 rounds of 9-millimetre ammunition
The exercise was spearheaded by Ag/Snr Supt Maharaj, Ag/Supt Edwards and ASP Singh, coordinated by Insp Bharath, supervised by Ag/Sgt Belilam, Ag/Cpl Ramkissoon, Ag/ Cpl George), and conducted by officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF).
