A weekend sea bath at one of Tobago East's popular beaches turned into tragedy after a man drowned on Saturday morning.
According to police reports, the incident occurred shortly after 11 am at Delaford Bay.
Guardian Media understands that Trevaughn Phillips aka 'Bobo' 32, a Labourer of Bay Ridge, Delaford, was swimming with a friend at Kings Bay when he got into difficulty.
When the friend reportedly got to shore, he saw that Phillip was in difficulty and then he disappeared under water.
Phillips was later brought to shore, but he was unresponsive. Efforts made to resuscitate him failed.
District Medical Officer Dr Saviney visited the scene and ordered the body removed to the Scarborough Hospital Mortuary.
A post mortem is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
Relatives said Phillips had a history of experiencing seizures, which may have contributed to his demise.
Roxborough Police are continuing investigations.
