Twenty-three-year-old Austin Paria was arrested yesterday for allegedly knocking down and assaulting a man on a roadway in Las Lomas. The following is a press release from the TTPS:
AUSTIN PARIA, 23, was arrested yesterday after he allegedly knocked down and then assaulted a man on a roadway in Las Lomas. Around 7:15 pm, a 27-year-old Las Lomas resident was washing his car on the road in front of his home. He allegedly observed a white AD wagon slowly proceeding along the roadway being driven by a man known to him.
He recognized the man as he had been involved in a court matter involving the man’s family members. The man allegedly swerved the car which made contact with the 27-year-old, knocking him to the ground. The man then allegedly exited the vehicle with a piece of wood and hit the victim on the left ear with it. He then escaped.
The victim was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he is currently receiving medical treatment. Ag Cpl Mohammed along with other officers proceeded to a house at Mc Clean Trace, Las Lomas #1, and arrested the suspect. They also seized the piece of wood believed to be used in the assault. PC Daniel continued enquiries and the suspect was charged today with malicious wounding.
