A 24-year-old man who was stabbed by his 13-year-old relative is now begging the police to have leniency and not lay charges.
The victim, police said, is also refusing to give an official statement as to the circumstances surrounding the incident that took place in Maraval on Sunday.
According to a police report, the victim told police that he had an altercation with the teen while in a house. The teen stormed out of the house but returned shortly after armed with a knife and stabbed the victim several about the body. The teen then ran away but was later detained by police.
The victim was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was treated and warded.
During a visit by investigating officers, however, the victim asked for help for the teenager and refused to give an official statement.
