A man identified only by his alias was found dead in Arouca on Tuesday morning.
The man’s body bore several gunshot wounds to the head.
According to a police report, at about 1.30 am, residents at Yorke Street, Arouca, heard voices quarrelling on the roadway over a cigarette, and then heard several gunshots.
Officers arrived on the scene and found the body of a male of dark brown complexion, slim built, described as a "Dougla", with a short haircut and clad in a purple long sleeve hoodie and a pair of black three-quarter pants. The man reportedly wore a black stocking-cap on his head.
Several nine millimetre spent shells were recovered on the scene.
Police said the deceased was identified only as "Marshy" and is believed to be in his mid-30s.
Police said he is known to be a carpenter and he resided in the area.
The real name of the deceased is not yet known and investigators are calling on relatives to come forward.
