Police believe Statom Octave was beaten, shot and dumped shortly after he went missing last Monday, November 9.
On Saturday, Eastern Division police found his body almost buried in mud off Union Road, Rio Claro.
Officers found his wallet and mobile phone nearby.
Relatives confirmed that it was his body.
Octave, 30, lived at Maloney Road, West Grand Lagoon Village, Mayaro.
Police said relatives last saw him around 9 am on November 9 at his home.
On Tuesday, a relative reported him missing to the Mayaro Police Station at 11.30 am.
Police launched a search and interviewed several persons, which led them to Saturday’s discovery.
