Homi­cide de­tec­tives are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the death of a man whose body was found off the Solomon Ho­choy High­way in Gas­par­il­lo on Sun­day, as gun vi­o­lence across the coun­try left two oth­er men wound­ed in sep­a­rate shoot­ings.

Po­lice said around 4.10 pm, a farmer walk­ing near the Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny pipeline went to tend to his an­i­mals when he spot­ted a man dead in a bushy area near Har­mo­ny Hall, op­po­site the south­bound lane of the high­way. The man ap­peared to have been shot or stabbed in the face.

The farmer alert­ed the Gas­par­il­lo Po­lice Sta­tion, and of­fi­cers re­spond­ed. The vic­tim was not iden­ti­fied up to yes­ter­day evening.

He was de­scribed as be­ing of East In­di­an de­scent, dark com­plex­ion, bald, and sport­ing a short beard. He was ap­prox­i­mate­ly 5’8” tall and weighed about 200 pounds. He was found ly­ing on his back, dressed in a blue jer­sey, long black trousers, and steel-tipped boots. A pair of glass­es was still on his face, while a black Mar­vin Gaye jer­sey and gloves were found in his back pock­et.

Mean­while, in Cu­nar­ipo, a 34-year-old Tamana taxi dri­ver was shot dur­ing a quar­rel at a bar on Sat­ur­day night.

Po­lice said around 7.30 pm, Ter­ry Roach was at Scot­ty’s Bar along Guaico Tamana Road when an ar­gu­ment broke out be­tween him and an­oth­er man he knew. Dur­ing the al­ter­ca­tion, the sus­pect drew a firearm and fired sev­er­al shots as Roach ran away.

Roach was hit in his ear and tak­en to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal, where he was treat­ed and dis­charged. The gun­man es­caped.

In To­ba­go, Scar­bor­ough po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a shoot­ing that left a 21-year-old man nurs­ing in­juries.

Po­lice said around 11.10 pm on Sun­day, the vic­tim and his younger broth­er en­tered an aban­doned build­ing about 100 feet from their Sang­ster Hill home. While in­side, the man heard a noise com­ing from one of the rooms and went to check. He then saw two men, one dressed in dark cloth­ing, and an­oth­er wear­ing a black and grey hood­ie and a white ski mask, armed with a gun.

The gun­man fired sev­er­al shots be­fore flee­ing the scene with his ac­com­plice. The vic­tim lat­er re­alised he had been shot in the left arm. A neigh­bour took him to the Scar­bor­ough Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he was treat­ed.
