Police officers have recovered and seized one pistol with two magazines and 95 rounds of .9mm ammunition, 32 rounds of .40 ammunition and six rounds of .45 ammunition during an Operation Strike Back exercise in the Central Division over the weekend.
The exercise took place during the period 10 pm on Saturday and 1 am on Sunday by members of the North Eastern Division Task Force and the Emergency Response Team Tactical Response Unit. It was spearheaded by Snr Supt Maharaj, Ag/Supt Ramjohn and ASP Pariman, coordinated by Insp Bharath, Ag/Sgt Martin, supervised by Cpl Daniel and Ag/Cpl Duncan.
Police said PC Marshall executed a search warrant for firearm and ammunition at the home of a man at Constance Street Chaguanas and conducted a search of his premises, where he found and seized hidden in a secret compartment in the closet of a bedroom one Ruger .45 Pistol fitted with a magazine together with one extended magazine.
Also one black bag containing 95 rounds of .9mm ammunition and one yellow bag containing 32 rounds of .40 ammunition and six rounds of .45 ammunition. The man was subsequently arrested and taken to the San Juan Police Sub Station to be charged.
