An unvaccinated person has been recorded as the most recent death from COVID-19 in Tobago. Their passing brings the island’s total to 268 lives lost.
That’s according to the latest update from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), dated Friday 20 May 2022.
Before yesterday, the most recent COVID-related death reported on the island was over a week ago, on Thursday 12 May 2022, with an unvaccinated person identified as the deceased on that date.
The Tobago Health Division report also notes that six persons have been certified as recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, while another 62 persons have tested positive for the disease, in Tobago.
These latest recoveries mean that at present, the total number of people in Tobago who have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020, now stands at 8,618.
However, the most recent infections have moved the number of active infections on the island currently to 573.
The Tobago COVID-19 update for 20 May 2022 also says that 12 people currently are hospitalised with COVID-19, down from Thursday’s total of 14.
Of the 12 patients currently hospitalised, six have not been vaccinated at all against the disease, while the other six patients have been fully vaccinated.
