One arrest was made, and three more illegal firearms and quantities of ammunition and cocaine were seized by police, while they conducted various anti-crime exercises on Wednesday 27 April 2022, in the South-Western, North-Eastern and Western Policing Divisions.
South-Western Division operation
An official statement from the Police Service reports that during an Operation Sea Breeze exercise on Wednesday, officers of the South-Western Division executed a search warrant for firearms and ammunition at a premises located along Southern Main Road in Vessigny Village, La Brea.
The search resulted in officers finding one firearm with one magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition, and one firearm loaded with a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition. The illegal items were seized, and one man was arrested.
The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Dillon, Supt. Norton, ASP Mathura and Insp. Marcelle, and supervised by Sgt. Rollocks, Sgt. (Ag.) Breedy, Sgt. (Ag.) Sobie, Cpl (Ag.) Seecharan, and W/Cpl (Ag.) Cobham. It included officers of the South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF), Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and officers of the Guapo Police Station.
Western Division operation
Officers of the Special Patrol Unit, Western Division, responding to a report of loud explosions at Rich Plain, Diego Martin, found and seized an illegal firearm.
According to the TTPS release, while conducting a search along a track in the area, the officers found and seized one Ruger revolver. The officers also carried out a comprehensive search of the area; however, no suspects were found.
Investigations are continuing.
North-Eastern Division operation
The Police Service reports that police officers found and seized four, black plastic wrapped packets containing cocaine when they went to a location at Eastern Main Road, San Juan, on Wednesday.
Involved in the police operation were officers from the San Juan Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the North-Eastern Division Crime Scene Investigations Unit (NED-CSI), and members of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
