Police have uncovered the bodies of two Hispanic women buried in shallow graves at Bejucal following a tip-off from a confidential informant late Wednesday night.
Around 11:30 p.m. on June 25, officers of the National Special Operations Unit acted on the information and proceeded to Line Road Extension, Warren Road, Bejucal. Upon arrival, they observed an area that appeared to be used for agriculture. After venturing approximately 42 feet into dense, grassy terrain north of the roadway, they noticed flattened grass and loose soil. At approximately 11:40 p.m., the officers began excavating the site and discovered the lifeless bodies of the two women buried in shallow graves.
The scene was immediately cordoned off, and additional units — including the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Crime Scene Unit, Canine Unit, Special Investigations Unit, and Central Division Task Force (Area North) — responded to support the investigation.
Around 3:30 a.m., after the District Medical Officer pronounced both victims dead, the bodies were removed by a funeral home and escorted to the Forensic Science Centre for autopsy.
Further information will be released as it becomes available.
