A police officer is being praised for coming to the rescue of a woman and her toddler after her car stalled in a lonely area Thursday morning.
Around 7:45 am on Thursday PC Sujeet Ramcharan of the La Romain Police Post was on his way to work in his private vehicle. He was dressed in police uniform.
Upon reaching an isolated stretch along the M2 Ring Road he saw a parked car, with a woman in the driver's seat and her two-year-old daughter strapped in a car seat.
PC Ramcharan asked her if everything was alright. She told him her gas gauge was not functioning properly and her vehicle "shut down for gas."
The officer found a gas container and went to the La Romain gas station where he purchased fuel.
He then returned and poured the gas into the tank of the woman's car. The officer then ensured that the vehicle started and waited until she drove off before leaving.
Thanking the officer for his assistance, the woman said, "Even though it is a busy road, it is a bushy area and there have been one or two incidents there. I am surprised he noticed us, it was just me and my daughter. He stopped and assisted us. He was also very quick. Even when he came back, I offered to give him back his money for the gas. He said it was okay. It was really nice to get that kind of response from the police. He did not have to stop, no one else did."
