Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley had a comfortable night and will have medical tests conducted, today.
Confirmation has come from a statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister, this morning.
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley spent last night under observation at the West Shore Medical Private Hospital in Cocorite, after being admitted to the facility around 5 pm yesterday.
Dr Rowley checked himself into the facility “as a precautionary measure” after experiencing some discomfort.
Initial reports had indicated that he had been experiencing cardiac problems, but sources told Guardian Media that doctors checking the prime minister were able to rule out any serious heart problem.
However, he was kept for observation.
National Security Minister Stuart Young, who was among the PM’s visitors last night, said he was in very good spirits.
The prime minister was supposed to host a news conference today at 2:30 pm on COVID-19 measures.
Young said that media conference was now postponed to a date to be announced.
In 2019, PM Rowley underwent medical tests in California concerning some ‘soft plaque’ which was found in one of his arteries.
The issue originally arose in 2016 when he carried out a series of tests for prostate cancer in the US, following which he was given a clean bill of health.
