Santa Cruz man ambushed, killed, while driving home

A San­ta Cruz man was am­bushed and shot mul­ti­ple times by gun­men as he drove home on Fri­day night.

Brent “Tom­my” Car­ring­ton of Sam Bou­caud Road, San­ta Cruz, lat­er died at hos­pi­tal.

The 26-year-old was re­port­ed­ly dri­ving his gold Nis­san Almera along Sad­dle Road in the vicin­i­ty of Bridge Peace Road around 8.15 pm when an un­known car pulled along­side and the oc­cu­pants opened fire on him.

Car­ring­ton re­port­ed­ly lost con­trol of his car which ran off the road and stalled on the pave­ment.

He was found seat­ed be­hind the steer­ing wheel suf­fer­ing from gun­shot wounds about the body.

Re­spond­ing of­fi­cers from the North East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force took Car­ring­ton to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope – where he was pro­nounced dead at 8.30 pm.

Of­fi­cers re­cov­ered sev­en 9 mm spent shell cas­ings at the scene.
