Po­lice have ar­rest­ed an act­ing Su­per­in­ten­dent of Pris­ons un­der a Pre­ven­tive De­ten­tion Or­der.

The of­fi­cer, who has more than 20 years’ ser­vice, was un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion as part of the probe in­to a smug­gling ring at the Max­i­mum Se­cu­ri­ty Prison.

He was most re­cent­ly at­tached to the Car­rera Is­land Prison, where he was trans­ferred short­ly af­ter for­mer act­ing Pris­ons Com­mis­sion­er Car­los Cor­raspe was sent on over 200 days’ va­ca­tion leave in Ju­ly.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands an­oth­er se­nior prison of­fi­cer was al­so de­tained briefly on Thurs­day night for ques­tion­ing but was re­leased.

He re­port­ed to work as ros­tered this morn­ing.
