The Siparia District Court has been closed today, and will remain so until further notice, after news that a staff member may have been exposed to the coronavirus.
According to a statement released by The Judiciary, closing down the Court is a necessary “precautionary measure”.
“The closure has become necessary as a precautionary measure given that a member of staff could have been exposed to a primary contact,” the statement explained. “While the staff member has not been confirmed as a Covid-19 case, the usual precautions have called for the current course of action.”
The statement went on to assure that Court business will continue.
“The sanitisation of the facility will be conducted and there shall be no in-person hearings or activities. Virtual Court Hearings will continue,” the statement said.
