A firearm and a quantity of ammunition were discovered by officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Northern Division this week.
Officers acting on information conducted the exercise around 11:00 am, on Wednesday during which they proceeded to the Maloney home of a suspect, where they executed a search warrant.
Police said nothing illegal was found inside the house, however, upon searching a bushy area located approximately 50 feet from the perimeter fence of the premises, officers found one Glock pistol along with a magazine containing 13 rounds of nine milli-metre ammunition.
The exercise was spearheaded by Sgt. Mark Hernandez.
