The Trinidad and Tobago Music Stars Steel Orchestra suffered a tremendous loss on Friday when its manager discovered that $300,000 worth in steelpans were stolen.
According to a police report, the manager said on February 28 2020 the pan side left several steel pans in an open area in close proximity to the Chinapoo basketball court located at Chinapoo Village, Morvant due to ongoing repairs to the Chinapoo Community Centre where it is usually kept.
As a result of the COVID-19 Regulations, the pan side was forced to discontinue pan practice sessions.
However, around 6 pm last Friday, the manager received information that the said steel pans were removed from the location. Upon arrival, he discovered 45 steel pans, 37 steel pan stands and 23 steel pan racks all together valued at approximately $300,000 missing.
Police are now pursuing the matter.
Earlier this year, Hatters Steel Orchestra's panyard was vandalised and the music band suffered around $300,000 in losses.
