Three men identified by police as farmers were shot last night after gunmen stormed a house in St Augustine.
Investigators told Guardian Media that the home invasion occurred shortly after 7 pm when bandits entered the house at Centenary Extension Street.
In the initial police report, the bandits attempted to rob the men after storming the house.
The farmers' police say attempted to fight back and in the struggle with the armed bandits, three of the farmers were shot.
One was shot in the chest while the other two were shot in the leg.
While the bandits attempted to make a hasty retreat one of them was chopped several times.
The armed bandits later escaped in a waiting Almera motorcar.
The victims were rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex to be treated.
St Joseph Police Station is continuing investigations and an All Points Bulletin(APB) has been issued for the escape vehicle.
