Heidi Alert has been appointed to act as Chief Executive Officer Tourism Trinidad Limited (TTL) with immediate effect.
According to a release from TTL Alert will report to the Chairman of the Board, Janelle Commissiong and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company.
Alert currently functions as the Manager, Destination Development at the company and according to the TTL release with the new appointment, Alert will now manage both portfolios, until a new CEO is installed.
Her appointment followed the firing of the former CEO Camille Campbell after just six months on the job.
Campbell, a former TSTT marketing executive was fired by the Commissiong led Board in what is now known to be controversial circumstances.
Tourism Trinidad Ltd was one of two companies formed after the closure of the Tourism Development Company in 2017.
A separate company, the Tobago Tourism Agency, was formed to manage the affairs on that island.
When asked about the appointment of Alert Commissiong emphasized the need to “continue on with the business of tourism and the delivery of the several projects, initiatives and local and international campaigns, currently in train.”
She added that “the company must continue to remain steadfast in its commitment to the progression of Trinidad’s Tourism.”
