Narcotics valued at over $4.5 million dollars were seized by officers of the Western Division’s Gang Unit, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Port of Spain Division, yesterday.
The exercise was conducted between 12:30 pm and 8:30 pm, on Wednesday 14th October 2020.
Official police reports state that during the exercise, police officers proceeded to a building in Port-of-Spain where they carried out a search of the premises. They subsequently discovered three packets containing a quantity of cocaine in the possession of a man occupying the building.
The officers also searched a motor vehicle which was parked in the vicinity of the building. The vehicle had a lone male occupant. That search resulted in officers finding six packets also containing cocaine.
The drugs have a combined weight of 3.3 kilogrammes and an approximate street value of TT$4,555,000.
Police arrested the two men—a 37-year-old and a 34-year old, both of Diego Martin.
The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Kelvern Thompson, Supt. Smith and ASP (Ag.) Coggins, and included officers of the Western Division’s Gang Unit and the Canine Unit.
