Two Trinidadian students have been awarded the 2019 Korean Government Scholarship to pursue Master’s Degrees in Korea.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea made the announcement via a news release yesterday.
This year’s scholarship winners are Afeisha Taitt who was selected to pursue a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Science and Technology at the Konkuk University and Curmairah Cambridge who was selected to pursue a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at the Keimyung University.
The statement said that the Korean Government through the National Institute for International Education’s (NIIED) Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) programme offers scholarships to foreign students who wish to further pursue their undergraduate and graduate degrees at Korean tertiary educational institutions.
The Korean Government scholarships are selected based on academic merit and will cover the full cost of study including one year of study for the Korean language.
The statement said both students have expressed their keen interest to study in Korea and are looking forward to exploring Korean culture and language while furthering their educational goals.
They will begin their two-year degree programmes in September of this year with one additional year allocated to studying the Korean language to familiarize with their new environment and student life in Korea. On August 13, Ambassador Moonup Sung invited the awardees to a luncheon at his official residence in which he offered encouraging advice and useful information for their stay in Korea.
