The Child Protection Unit (CPU) in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is urging parents and guardians once more, to continue to be vigilant where their children are concerned, following the recent arrest of two men for sexual offences against minors.
According to official police reports, investigations spearheaded by W/Supt (Ag) George, ASP Nowbutt, and supervised by Insp. Andrews, and Sgt Miller of the unit, led to the arrest of two men, who have been charged with sexual offences against minors, 13 and 15 years of age.
In the first instance, a 47-year-old builder of Laventille appeared in court on May 22nd, 2020, charged with one count of sexual penetration of a minor. He was denied bail and remanded into custody until June 8th, 2020.
In the second instance, a 39-year-old cricket pitch attendant in Tobago was charged with one count of sexual touching of a child.
The accused is to appear before the Scarborough Magistrate today.
CPU officers remind parents and guardians to be especially careful of their children during this period where they are at home and more susceptible to predators.
Parents and guardians are advised to not leave children unattended or in the care of questionable adults.
