Two more people have died from COVID-19 taking the total number of deaths up to 103.
According to the Ministry of Health’s update yesterday, the recent fatalities are two elderly males with pre-existing medical conditions.
The ministry also confirmed 54 new cases of infection, however, it noted the increase did not represent a 24-hour period as it included the results from samples taken between October 19 and 21.
The new cases take the number of local infections up to 5,446 since the first case was recorded on March 12. The ministry also released 44 people from its care within the last 24 hours.
Five people were discharged from public health facilities while 39 were released from home self-isolation as recovered community cases. The number of active cases now stands at 1,467 of which 1,348 are in home self-isolation.
A total of 3,876 people have recovered from the infection locally.
Some 70 patients remain in hospital, 49 in step-down/transitional facilities and 189 in state quarantine facilities. —Rishard Khan
