In a brutal home invasion early Wednesday morning, two residents of Savonetta, California, endured a harrowing ordeal at the hands of three armed intruders.
The victims, a 70-year-old and a 49-year-old, were asleep in their home at Phoenix Park Road when the break-in occurred.
According to the investigating officer, PC Boodoosingh, the victims secured their home around 9 pm on Tuesday, locking all doors and windows before going to bed.
At approximately 3.10 am on Wednesday, they were jolted awake by the presence of three masked intruders in their bedroom.
The first suspect, described as a slim-built male armed with a knife, climbed on top of one of the victims, stifling her with a pillow. Meanwhile, the second suspect held the other victim from behind, pressing a knife to her neck. The third suspect looked on as the victims were terrorised.
The quick-thinking victims managed to raise an alarm, causing the suspects to flee through a side door on the western side of the building.
In their escape, the intruders took a quantity of cash, cigarettes, and wrapping paper from a parlour at the front of the home.
The value of the stolen items has yet to be determined.
The suspects, all described as slim-built males of unknown descent, wore dark clothing and ski masks to conceal their identities.
The police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in apprehending these dangerous individuals.
This brazen attack has left the community on edge, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and security measures.
Investigations are continuing.
