A Soca artiste who was recently selected to contest the local government elections for the United National Congress is now pledging his support for the People’s National Movement.
So much so, Clint Davis, sobriquet, Young Blue, 34 of Cocoyea Village, performed at the launch of PNM candidate for Mon Repos/Navet District Nigel Couttier’s election campaign and the blessing of his office on Dos Santos Street, Mon Repos last Sunday.
The event was attended by Rural Development and Local Government Minister Kazim Hosein, San Fernando East MP Randall Mitchell, San Fernando Mayor Junia Regrello and several incumbent councillors.
Davis said he was the proposed UNC candidate for Mon Repos/Navet, but withdrew before nomination day.
He was replaced by sales clerk, Abigail Peters.
According to media reports, Davis said he withdrew as a UNC candidate as he was not getting help to launch his campaign.
He said he also objected to a “UNC” decision to file an injunction to halt the sale of the refinery to Patriotic Energies and Technologies Co. Ltd.
However, UNC PRO Anita Hayne said that Davis was among 139 persons screened, but he was found ineligible as he was not living within the Mon Repos/Navet boundary.
Those in attendance said during his performance, Davis indicated his support for Couttier in his bid to represent the district and even went down on his knees and prayed the ‘Our Father Prayer’.
