An unoccupied house in Penal was destroyed by fire on Monday night.
Police said the house belonged to a Moruga man who died a month ago.
Officers did not provide the man’s name or details as to how he died.
A neighbour reported to police that around 11 pm there was a low voltage and shortly after she heard crackling sounds and saw the house on fire. The house was described as a single-story, two-bedroom plywood structure. The house was fitted with electricity.
Police said after the man died his relatives removed all appliances.
A team of fire officers under the supervision of Fire Substation Officer Modeste-La Focade extinguished the blaze.
