The Uni­ver­si­ty of Trinidad and To­ba­go (UTT) signed a Mem­o­ran­dum of Un­der­stand­ing (MoU) with the Red Deer Poly­tech­nic (RDP) of Al­ber­ta, Cana­da and the NESC Tech­ni­cal In­sti­tute (NTI) on Mon­day. The mul­ti­fac­eted agree­ment will fa­cil­i­tate col­lab­o­ra­tion among the three in­sti­tu­tions for the train­ing, de­vel­op­ment and cer­ti­fi­ca­tion of per­sons not on­ly from Trinidad and To­ba­go, but al­so from the wider Caribbean

As a re­sult of this MoU, Tech­ni­cal and Vo­ca­tion­al Ed­u­ca­tion­al Train­ing (TVET) will be pro­mot­ed and en­hanced, with nu­mer­ous op­por­tu­ni­ties for staff, stu­dent and cul­tur­al ex­change. RDP Pres­i­dent Stu­art Cul­lum stat­ed that the pos­si­bil­i­ty of ar­tic­u­la­tion among the three in­sti­tu­tions was very like­ly be­cause of pro­gramme sim­i­lar­i­ties in spe­cif­ic ar­eas.

In a re­lease, UTT stat­ed, “This land­mark agree­ment lends it­self to the strength­en­ing of skills train­ing in Trinidad and To­ba­go, and show­cas­es the na­tion­al Uni­ver­si­ty’s con­tin­ued com­mit­ment to the eq­ui­table en­hance­ment of the qual­i­ty of life for all.”
