One Trinidadian man, one Venezuelan woman and a two-year-old child were among eight people detained by the T&T Coast Guard in a vessel one mile off the coast of Cedros, on Thursday.
According to a police report, at about 10:16 am on Thursday 14 January 2021, the Coast Guard’s Interceptor Vessel 019 was one mile off the coast of Cedros when it encountered a vessel named the Sea Senora, which had onboard six male occupants and one adult female with a child.
The vessel and the occupants were detained.
The detainees were brought to the Coast Guard Base at Cedros and handed over to the Cedros Police, where they were interviewed by Immigration Officer Savitri Singh.
The detainees included a 34-year-old man from Felicity, Chaguanas; a 19-year-old Venezuelan woman; a two-year-old Venezuelan girl; and five Venezuelan men ages 21, 29, 29, 30 and 34 years.
