Four underaged Venezuelan girls and eight Venezuelan women who police believe are victims of a human trafficking ring were found at an El Socorro apartment by police yesterday and rescued.
Investigators told Guardian Media that a party of officers from the North-Eastern Division Task Force acting on information went to the apartment at El Socorro Extension Road shortly after noon.
Inside the apartment were eight women and four young girls.
Investigators told Guardian Media that the women were questioned with the assistance of an interpreter and the Immigration Division brought in as the Venezuelans did not have any form of identification on them. They women were later taken into the care of Immigration officials.
The minors were also questioned and later handed over to the Child Protection Unit.
Investigations are ongoing.
