A man wanted for a series of robberies in Siparia, as well as a shooting, has been arrested by police.
Investigators said around 10 pm on Saturday they went to his home and executed a search. Five rounds of ammunition were also allegedly found on the premises. The suspect is believed to be linked to a series of robberies and housebreaking offences which occurred in the district on Holy Thursday when many residents were celebrating the La Divina Pastora celebrations.
The accused is said to be on bail in connection with robbery and shooting offences. He will appear before ID parades over the next few days, following which he will be charged. Investigations are continuing. —Radhica De Silva
