A 25-year-old woman claimed she was kid­napped, beat­en and sex­u­al­ly as­sault­ed by her chil­dren’s fa­ther dur­ing a ter­ri­fy­ing or­deal on Sun­day night.

She said the at­tack be­gan around 9.30 pm af­ter the 33-year-old sus­pect came to her home. She told in­ves­ti­ga­tors that her for­mer com­mon-law hus­band, with whom she shared a nine-year re­la­tion­ship, came to col­lect mon­ey for their chil­dren and mes­saged her via What­sApp to meet him at his ve­hi­cle.

When she ap­proached the car, the man al­leged­ly pulled her in­to the front pas­sen­ger seat, slapped her sev­er­al times and drove off. He turned in­to a se­clud­ed road­way off the South­ern Main Road near Aripero Vil­lage, where he sex­u­al­ly as­sault­ed her. He con­tin­ued dri­ving to­wards La Brea, stopped at Carat Shed Beach and or­dered her to ex­it the car and walk to­wards the shore­line, where he raped her.

The sus­pect or­dered her back to the ve­hi­cle and dropped her off, a dis­tance away from her home.

She re­port­ed the in­ci­dent at the Oropouche Po­lice Sta­tion and was ex­am­ined and treat­ed at the Siparia Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty.
