A 25-year-old woman claimed she was kidnapped, beaten and sexually assaulted by her children’s father during a terrifying ordeal on Sunday night.
She said the attack began around 9.30 pm after the 33-year-old suspect came to her home. She told investigators that her former common-law husband, with whom she shared a nine-year relationship, came to collect money for their children and messaged her via WhatsApp to meet him at his vehicle.
When she approached the car, the man allegedly pulled her into the front passenger seat, slapped her several times and drove off. He turned into a secluded roadway off the Southern Main Road near Aripero Village, where he sexually assaulted her. He continued driving towards La Brea, stopped at Carat Shed Beach and ordered her to exit the car and walk towards the shoreline, where he raped her.
The suspect ordered her back to the vehicle and dropped her off, a distance away from her home.
She reported the incident at the Oropouche Police Station and was examined and treated at the Siparia District Health Facility.
Investigations are ongoing.
