Residents of Woodland blocked the main road with burning tyres this morning as they protested over the lack of water in their community.
"We want water," shouted the residents along La Fortune Road, the same community that was inundated by flood waters a few days ago.
Mother of two, Angel Khan said they cannot clean, cook, bathe or do any household chores.
She said since last Monday they have had no water and have been unable to send their children to school.
Khan said she utilized her tank water to clean the inside of her house.
Trying to hold back the tears, Devika Singh, 64, and her husband Satnarine Singh, 72, said they have been buying bottled water to bathe their 17-year-old physically and mentally challenged granddaughter.
"We are not well and we are fed up. It is unfair to us. I have to use fountain water to clean. We can't do nothing. So what about us, everything is focused in the north, what happen to us? I have not had a proper meal in days now, I eating crix and coffee," she lamented.
Another resident Imtiaz Baig complained that several cesspits overflowed into the community and they have not been able to clean their homes.
"It is a health hazard here. It has filth in people's properties still," he complained.
Avocat North/San Francique councillor Doodnath Mayrhoo said he contacted WASA and was told the desalination plant will be up and running today but the residents of Woodland will not get water until the weekend when they are scheduled to get a supply.
Mayrhoo and the residents are pleading with WASA and Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales to supply the community with water.
