A 15-year-old boy was de­tained on Tues­day in con­nec­tion with the mur­der of 25-year-old Kyle Cay­ona.

The teen, who is from St Joseph, was held by po­lice around 4 pm while at his home at the Ranch Set­ters Eco Re­sort, Cu­mu­to Road and tak­en to the Mara­cas Po­lice Sta­tion.

He was ar­rest­ed by a team of of­fi­cers from the North­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force (West) led by Cpl Forde and Cpl Good­ing.

The op­er­a­tion was co­or­di­nat­ed by ACP Sama­roo, Snr Supt Ram­phall and spear­head­ed by W/ASP Pow­der, In­sp Pitt, and In­sp High­ly.

Po­lice said on Oc­to­ber 17 at about 10 am Cay­ona was killed dur­ing a con­fronta­tion al­leged­ly over mon­ey. The in­ci­dent oc­curred at May­field Av­enue, Val­sayn.

The 25-year-old, who was stabbed in the ab­domen was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex where he lat­er suc­cumbed to his in­juries.
