This is an unsolicited, unpaid, personal view. Image is everything. Political image in the face of a pandemic, is even more important. In this silly season run up to voting day, August 10, 2020, every leader of any of the contending political parties will need a personal Public Relations Officer/ Editor in Chief, to help them mind their mouths.
Next in line is Ancil Roget, leader of the Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM). Who can forget Mr. Roget’s allegedly brain dead statement in 2017 to bpTT? We needed the jobs for construction of the Angellin platform like you need to drink water. Mr Roget told bpTT ‘take your rigs and go’. And they went. And the rest is history. Does Ancil Roget want to walk down that same road of making rude, uncalled for statements?
The entire trade union movement, every single one of them, now posture with chest thumping and barely veiled threats against the citizens responsible for paying salaries. Smelling my bottom lip is what I was told as a child when being rude. Licks in yuh tail. The OWTU people, in particular, need to polish up their image if they want to impress the public.
The aspiring 1 per cent trade union employer in the energy sector, need to understand why image is everything. It is not rocket science. You do not need Einstein.
The pen remains mightier than the sword. Use of the ‘N’ word in 2020 says that you allegedly need to calm yourself or you will be cut and stabbed by more than three pens.
