After a month of "Round Robin" matches, which were followed by the "Knock Out" rounds, the Super Industrial Services Industrial Cricket League Grand Finals was final came up last Friday.Taking the field to the surprise of no one was the defending champions WASA, their opponents were the fighting IPSL (AUM) squad. This championship event was orchestrated by the SIS group with the pomp and glamour that is expected of a final.
A huge turnout was entertained by a massive forty foot music truck and live scores was seen on two large LED Screens, everything was set on the Plipdeco grounds for a twilight fixture under lights.The toss was won by WASA and they decided to have the first strike. The prolific opening pair of Veeshan Jagessar and Dexter "Sparky" Samuel proved to be devastating on the chemical boys and it was quickly turning into a wash out.
Sparky blasted 37 runs not out with Jagessar contributing 21 runs, the final total was a massive 86 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted ten overs. None of the IPSL (AUM) bowlers were spared the flowing bats of the openers.When IPSL (AUM) batted, tight bowling by WASA drenched any hopes of an upset. None of the IPSL batters even reached double figures and they limped to a paltry 34 runs in their ten overs losing five wickets, handing the water boys their second successive championship in as many years by a margin of 52 runs.
