“Blackpool Sports Club of Mt Lambert will stage it’s 27th Anniversary Football match in memory of one it’s the foundation member Cecil “Rajay”Joseph on Sunday at the Aranguez Savannah from 4:00 pm.
In the past, the club honoured icons for their contributions to sports and culture, such as Alvin Corneal, Sedley Joseph, Everald “Gally”Cummings, Kelvin “KB” Berassa, Gerry Browne, Leroy de Leon, Ulric “Buggy”Haynes, Ellis and “Sam” Sadaphal and Kent Bernard.
This year the club will pay tribute to Robert “Robbie”Greenidge, an ace pan arranger, Alexander Alick”Dare, a long serving contributor to the club, Desmond O’Brien, for his services to football in the East, especially Progressive Youth Movement (PYM) Football League, Randolph O’Brien, an outstanding player in the East and Ming Alleyne, former stalwart in the Colts Football Club of Port of Spain.
The day's activities will see veteran teams Moosai Sports led by former West Indies and Trinidad leg spinner Harold “Jo”Joseph, Soft Drinks led by James “Scotty”Scot and Earnest Wood of Massy Trinidad All Stars fame and Blackpool in action.
