Despite losing their preliminary round match to Fort King George Gunners, Buccoo Reef Divers topped the standings at the Chief Secretary Bago T10 Cricket Blast Tournament and have secured a place in the final which carded for Friday at 7 pm at the Cyd Gray Sporting Complex in Roxborough, Tobago.
With four wins and a washout from their six matches, they finished on 13 points and will face the winner of the Rainforest Rangers versus Little Tobago Islanders which were carded to battle in the play-off on Thursday night.
Fort King George who was knocked out of the tournament won their final match by nine runs. Gunners batted first and scored 78 for eight off 10 overs. Jason Persaud playing his first game made 22 not out. Spinner Kwani Thomas was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets for five runs, while Arnel Jones took two wickets for three runs.
Buccoo given their impressive record thus far was expected to run away with the victory but it was not to be. Buccoo was restricted to 69/6 off 10 overs with Ato James taking 2/10.
In the second game, Rainforest Rangers batted first and scored 74/4 off 10 overs. Navin Stewart was the best of the batsmen yet again for Buccoo, scoring a rapid 33. He is at the top of the run-scoring chart with 233 runs.
Opener Renaldo Lezama cracked 34 to take Little Tobago Islanders to victory at 75/4.
