National women’s football team striker, Kennya “Yaya” Cordner capped off an impressive 3-0 win for Sandviken in the Norwegian Toppserien over Stabaek Football at Stemmemyren, Bergen on Saturday.
The table-leaders Sandviken held a 1-0 lead at the half-time interval thanks to Vilde Hasund’s 26th-minute strike.
With 11 minutes left in the match, Marit Bratberg Lund made it 2-0 before 32-year-old Cordner completed the scoring, a minute from full-time.
It was her first league goal since August 14.
The win kept Sandviken at the top of the ten-club table with 43 points from 15 matches, seven ahead of Rosenborg who has a match in hand while LSK Kvinner is third with 31 points and a match in hand as well.
Cordner and her teammates return to league action on October 17 against seventh-placed Avaldsness before facing fourth-placed Valerenga in the NM Cup final on October 31.
In the semifinals on October 3, Sandviken blanked LSK Kvinner 2-0 while Valerenga trashed Rosenborg 4-0, a day earlier.
