Minister of Sport and Community Development, Shamfa Cudjoe has extended congratulations to T&T's ace female cyclist Teneil Campbell on her next step towards cycling elevation.
In a release on Thursday, Cudjoe said: "The Ministry of Sport and Community Development extends sincere congratulations to national cyclist Teneil Campbell on being selected to join the prestigious Mitchelton-SCOTT GreenEdge Cycling team, an Australian professional road race cycling team, for the next two seasons.
Campbell’s many accolades include placing 1st in the 2019 Tour of Thailand (Stage 2), 2nd in the 2019 Pan American Games (Road Race), 3rd Place at the 2020 Vuelta CV Feminas in Spain, and 5th in the 2020 Omloop van het Hageland in Belgium."
Campbell, the lone T&T female cyclist to have qualified for the Olympic Games in 2021, was elated when she got the call to join the club.
Cudjoe said the 23-year-old has earned the utmost respect of every athlete, both amateur and professional, across T&T and deserves her placement due to her tireless training, perseverance and discipline. “Teneil has an outstanding career ahead, due to her tenacity and grit. We at the Ministry are exceptionally proud of her progress and her latest accomplishment. Over the years, this country has had increased visibility in the cycling arena and Teneil’s sportsmanship is key to this trend. We salute you Teneil. Continue to make us proud.”
