Ironman had a free reign in the absence of last year’s T&T International Great Race champion Motul Monster and multiple-time winner Mr Solo II in the 130 mph B Class, when the Fourth Regatta took place on Sunday.
However, the Ironman crew was forced to share the spotlight with Mini Me Tobago, the winner of the new 50 mph H Class which featured five participants overall, inclusive of four boats from the sister-isle of Tobago on the day.
Mini Me battled to the first-place finish, leaving behind Tanos Tobago in second and Ghost Operation Tobago in third. The entry of the Tobago boats generated huge excitement organisers have said, as they came with supporters in droves and made a huge impact on the powerboat racing landscape.
Meanwhile, with the final National Championship regatta scheduled for July 10, an uncontested Ironman made mas from start to finish, but their party could soon be spoilt with some of the class’ big guns—Motul Monster, Mr Solo II and Big Thunder expected to return for the July 10 regatta which will be the last race before this year’s great race on August 20.
In the 60 mph G Class, Timeless continued their dominance by taking the victory ahead of Infusion IV, while Extreme Measures sealed the win in the 70 mph class.
