There will be seven races on Saturday when local racing continues at the Santa Rosa Park, Arima. The feature event on the Arima Race Club's (ARC) Day 12 presentation is the Handicap for three-year-olds horses rated 80 and over and will see nine horses racing over 1,600 metres on the turf track.
Heading the field is the Glenn Mendez-trained reigining "Horse of The Year", Juice Man, who has been allotted 50 kilos in the event. Juice Man will be partnered by Ricky Jadoo. Mendez will also have the talented Spoke In Yuh Wheel in the line-up and he will be ridden by Learie C Seecharan with 51 kilos.
Champion trainer John O'Brien has a three-pronged attack in the event with General JN, Apocalypse and Thisonesforron. Kerron Khelawan will be astride the top-weight General JN which will carry 58 kilos, while champion jockey Brian Boodramsing will partner Apocalypse which will carry 52.5 kilos. Nine-year-old Thisonesforron will be ridden by apprentice Kimal Santo. He will tote 54.5 kilos.
Nela Mohammed will be aboard the talented Root of Jesse which is well treated with 51 kilos. Trainer Harriram Gobin attacks the event with two runners in Commanding Fashion and Stockyard. The former will be ridden by Kiron Razack and will take along 44 kilos while Ronald Ali will partner Stockyard, which is allotted 52 kilos.
When entries were taken yesterday at Santa Rosa Park, a total of 85 horses took entry for the seven-race card.
