Kenny's of Chaguanas and Foxys of Marabella both registered big wins on Wednesday in the National Pool League which continued at various venues across Trinidad.
Kenny's led by Jesse Gangaram was in enemy territory against Dekko Sports Bar in Princes Town and came out unscathed with a 5-0 victory to the disappointment of the host.
Rudy Rampersad led off for the visitors against Hazir Nabirali by taking the first frame but Rampersad, not for the first time in the tournament, came back to win three straight. Zico Marcano was next for Dekko, unfortunately for him, he came up against one of Kenny's top players in the form of Zubir Sankar. Sankar wasted no time in winning three straight games. In the doubles encounter, the pair of Mohan Moonsammy and Clint Mohammed were on course to seal the first win for the hosts after taking a 2-0 lead but Kendrick Bachan, owner of Kenny's Sports Bar and Ganesh Bedassie had other ideas and bounced back to win the next three frames.
Game four saw more excitement as Jason Jennings took on Coty Brumant and that game also went the distance with Brumant winning a seesaw battle 3-2. The final game also went to five frames with Dekko owner Surendra Sookdeo coming up against Brian Studdard. Studdard raced to a two-nil lead but Sookdeo fought back to make it two-all and set up a grandstand finish but sadly for Dekko, Studdard prevailed in the final frame for a five-nil rout.
Foxys were also in fine form at their home base in Marabella where the Liquidatorz came calling and home captain Fidel Mohammed got his team off to a rousing start winning in three straight frames against Anthony Bacchus. Ayoub Mohammed was drawn to play Liquidatorz Ganesh Boodram and did well to rebound from a first frame loss to win 3-1. The doubles pair of Anwar Baksh and Kelly Ramesar also won 3-1 against the visiting pair of Kenneth Joseph and Derek Jasper, their only loss coming in the third frame. With the best of five matches already sealed, Seudesh Julipsingh ran away with a 3-nil win in game 4 against Krystle Khan, the first female to make an appearance in the NPL. Vishnu Bridgelalsingh wrapped up the 5-nil sweep with a 3-1 win over veteran Michael Ramlogan.
In Curepe, it came down to the final game as second-placed Pit 'N Pub were pushed to the limit by Upper Deck of St. James but came away with a 3-2 win. Home team vice-captain Ravy Joseph and Adrian Mangaroo were the big winners on the night for the hosts, not dropping a frame, in their 3-nil wins. Kerwin Reis and Anselm Villafana both registered 3-1 wins for the visitors and the duo of Carlos Poyer and Menon Herera were victorious for the hosts in the doubles encounter.
No electricity at the Boardroom in Debe forced the postponed of the highly anticipated clash between United Stars and Headquarters and transportation issues also forced the Jerry's vs Forty Fivers encounter to be called off.
Both matches were rescheduled for tonight at the same venues and will start at 8 pm.
