Netball legend Irene Van Dyk of New Zealand will be in T&T to give local coaches a chance to boost their coaching skills at the T&T Netball Association (TTNA) annual netball camp.
The camp, which is being hosted in conjunction with the University of T&T, is open to all leagues and players and will take place at the Jean Pierre Complex in Mucurapo, Port-of-Spain from July 30- August 9, from 9 am to 2 pm each day.
Van Dyk, a former South African captain, chose to make New Zealand her home in 2000 and became a New Zealand citizen in 2005. She was always a favourite with Kiwi crowds each time she played. Recognised as the best goal shooter in the world, she consistently attained over 90 per cent in every game. Irene is the most capped international player of all time.
Van Dyk represented New Zealand for 14 years before retiring from international netball in June 2014, attaining an outstanding international record with five Netball World Cups (two for South Africa, three for New Zealand) and four Commonwealth Games (1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010).
Participants will get a holistic approach to training and development, focusing on Under-14s and elite level with the benefit of improving performance, while coaches will benefit from the workshop with Van Dyk as well as be re-certified.
Cost for the camp is $250.
