T&T goal-shooter Kalifa Mc Collin ended with a perfect shooting percentage of 100 as the Celtic Dragons won for the first time in the Vitality Netball Super League since March 2018, 67-40 over newcomer London Pulse on Saturday to improve to 1-1 after Round Two.
Beaten in their opener 58-41 by Team Bath, Mc Collin and her team-mates were hoping for much better fortune and they did so, in somewhat of shocking ease against a very talented London Pulse line-up
The host drew first blood with the opening goal but the Dragons fired themselves straight back up the court via Suzy Drane’s long pass to Kyra Jones who fed goal-attack Mc Collin to level the score.
The first quarter continued neck and neck as Pulse kept composed under their own post, but after about ten minutes, they started to allow some errors to creep into their game, and the Dragons were able to benefit to lead 15-12 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Jones continued to find Mc Collin and goal-shooter Chelsea Lewis at free will as they dominated the Pulse, 20-7 to widen their advantage to 35-19 at the half-time interval.
Despite the big lead, Dragons remained committed to the cause with Mc Collin scoring on every attempt and Lewis, also close to perfection as they outscored the host, 15-7 to end 50-26 at the third quarter whistle.
In the final quarter, Dragons made a few changes with Lucy Herdman, replacing Lewis and Abby Tyrrell coming in for Adi Bolakoro at goal defence.
The changes did little to stop the flow of the match for the Dragons as the won the final quarter as well, 17-14 to complete the road win at the Copper Box, Arena, London.
London Pulse also has a 1-1 record after beating Severn Stars 51-49 in their opener.
Up next for Dragons is a clash away to Stars at the University of Gloucestershire Arena on January 25 in Round Three. The Stars are without a win after falling to Loughborough Lightning 44-52.
