Jason Mohammed, who recorded a century (101) says that the T&T Red Force bowlers must finish strongly and the fielding must improve moving forward.
On Friday night Mohammed, the right-hand batsman scored his 5th List A century as he took T&T to 244/4 off 30 overs. The USA was then restricted to 201/7 in their allotment losing by 43 runs. On Sunday, Red Force will play its fifth match of the Colonial Medical Insurance Cup against the Windwards Volcanoes at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, San Fernando at 1.30 pm.
Speaking about the clash Mohammed said: "We have a good team, the batting has been good but we must improve with our bowling at the end of the innings. We have been giving away too many runs at the backend and this is something we must tighten up." Mohammed, 33, of Powergen was the last of the top order batsmen to come good, after centuries from Darren Bravo, Jeremy Solozano and 87 from Tion Webster earlier in the tournament.
He said that there is also room for improvement in the fielding: "We have put down a few catches so far and we have to improve the fielding moving forward. We need to make sure that we take care of the death bowling and the fielding and we will have a great all-round performance."
The T&T Red Force is currently second in the standings after losing to leaders West Indies Emerging Players. Both teams have 12 points from four matches but the West Indies Emerging players have a better net run rate.
Also on 12 points and keeping up the pressure on the Red Force and the West Indies Emerging is the Guyana Jaguars. They also have 12 points from four matches and is in third place based on their net run rate. The battle for the semi-finals is now definitely amongst these three teams hence T&T can't afford to slip up against the Windwards who they easily beat in the first round at the Queen's Park Oval.
The Windwards Volcanoes will enter the match as the underdogs having won just one game from their four matches and that came against the United States.
