Ronald Phipps was a dominant force once more as defending champion team - Fire Service made it two wins from as many matches in the Premier Division of the Courts All Sectors Netball League at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Orange Grove Road, Tacarigua on Saturday.
Goal Attack Phipps converted 34 of 44 attempts while former national player Simone Morgan added ten from 21 and Martinez Holder, seven from 12 for Fire Service who led 10-6, 22-15 and 38-21 at the end of the first three quarters.
Police, now with a 0-2 record got a team-best 27 goals from 41 attempts from Steve Mc Sween, while Jeseelle Navarro got seven from eight and Gushier Grant, one of two in the loss.
Police Youth Club kept pace with Fire Service at the top with a comfortable 42-25 beating of Unit Trust Corporation.
Leading the way for PYC was national team youngster, Tahira Hollingsworth with 26 goals from 37 attempts.
PYC who led 9-4, 19-12 and 35-15 at the end of the first three quarters also got nine from 14 attempts by national men’s basketballer, Fabrice Fisher, and Cheynelle Dolland with seven from 15.
Jason Noray was the lone player from UTC to reach double-figures with 12 goals from 18 attempts.
Men’s basketballer, Kerry Mc Millan tallied 23 goals from 28 attempts, and former England-based T&T international, Anastascia Wilson scored 20 from 23 attempts to earn Defence Force a 43-39 win over Las Lomas Academy, who got a team-best 15 goals from 25 attempts from Keon Russell.
In the Championship Division, there were contrasting wins for TSTT and champions, Bermudez.
TSTT crushed Miscellaneous Laventille 45-9 with Kamila Sobers scoring 28 goals from 41 attempts for the winners, while Makeda De Freitas netted 29 of 33 attempts for Bermudez, as they held off Jabloteh, 36-35. Today's matches have been rescheduled to Wednesday due to unavailability of the venue.
