Medium pacer Javon Searles continued his impressive form by taking five wickets to lead Queen's Park to a whopping 169-run win over EYM in the second round of the TTCB T20 tournament.
Queen's Park batting first made 202 for seven off their 20 overs with national players Jeremy Solozano and Tion Website getting half centuries. Solozano got 69 off 37 balls, while Webster made a 35-ball half century.
Searles, who grabbed 8/23 against Prisons in the quarterfinals of the 50 overs league on Sunday, then turned the match on its head taking 5/14 to rout EYM for an embarrassing 33 runs. Off-spinner Jon Russ Jaggessar was also good on the day and captured 3/11.
Down at Wilson Road, there was a cliff hanger between First Citizens Clarke Road and Central Sports. The visiting Central Sports team batted first and scored 163/5 off their 20 overs with Guyanese Leon Johnson scoring an unbeaten 58. Also among the runs was the consistent Kamil Pooran who made 54. Clarke Road on the back of an excellent 74 from the inform Yannick Ottley, took the game off the last ball. Gregory Mahabir with 36 not out and Jamaican Odean Smith was left to get two runs off the last ball and the latter got it much to the delight of the Penal fans.
At Endeavour young spinner Miguel Mahabir was in fine form as he grabbed five wickets for eight runs to take Merry Boys to a 16-run win over Endeavour Sports. Amir Jangoo with 40 and Mario Belcon 32 took Merry Boys to 139/9 off their 20 overs. This proved too much for Endeavour as they fell short at 123 all out.
