Though unable to win the Jockey Club of Canada Sovereign Awards, on April 18 at the Chateau Le Jardin in Woodbridge, Ontario. Lenny Seecharan and his brother Learie have started the Hasting racing season in style by winning a race each on the opening day of the racing season.
T&T's apprentice jockey Lenny Seecharan, who had been nominated for the "Apprentice of The Year", partnered Marshal Swiddle to victory for trainer Terry D Clyde at odds of 7-2. His brother then landed Good As They Get at odds of 7-2 for trainer Mel Snow.
Learie struck up a good partnership with the Harold Chadee trained old-stager Buffalo Soldier which he guided to victory at the centralised venue, Santa Rosa Park, Arima, two months ago.
Lenny said, "I like, my brother, is very happy for the great start to the season and hope our year is even better than last season. We enjoy it here because, at home in Trinidad, we only race one day a week. My brother and I are getting a chance to ride with good jockeys, who are ready and willing to teach and explain our mistakes.
"We are learning fast and we are both getting better and we must thank all the trainers and owners who have faith in us and have given us an opportunity to better ourselves.
"We are both trying to do our best and we hope it will be better than in 2018."
