Round one ac­tion in the new­ly re­named Joan Yuille-Williams San Fer­nan­do Net­ball League (JY­WSFNL), starts Sat­ur­day with six match­es sched­uled at Skin­ner's Park from 9 am.

The 77th edi­tion of the league opened on June 22 at the South­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na in Pleas­antville when the an­nounce­ment was made of the re­nam­ing of the league to recog­nise the for­mer min­is­ter's "ex­cep­tion­al and sus­tained" con­tri­bu­tion to the sport of net­ball, par­tic­u­lar­ly with­in the city of San Fer­nan­do ac­cord­ing to the pres­i­dent of the league, Sher­ry-Ann Black­burn. Yuille-Williams is the cur­rent Pa­tron of the League.

The South­ern Net­ball Acad­e­my Point Fortin (SNA P/F) club has al­ready picked one ti­tle for the sea­son, win­ning the march past ti­tle ahead of Am­bas­sadors and Youth All Stars, re­spec­tive­ly, on the open­ing day.

To­day, SNA P/F's Be­gin­ners' team will jump in­to ac­tion in the sec­ond match of the morn­ing against Cou­va An­gli­can Pri­ma­ry School at 9.45 am fol­low­ing the open­ing match be­tween Les En­fants and Ch­agua­nas Unit­ed at 9 am.

Some 13 teams from eight clubs will take part in the league in­clud­ing Am­bas­sadors, Ch­agua­nas Unit­ed, Cou­va An­gli­can Pri­ma­ry, Les En­fants, SNA P/F, SNA South East (S/E), based in Ma­yaro, SNA Princes Town/Moru­ga (P/M) and Youth All Stars.

They will bat­tle in three di­vi­sions. The oth­ers are B's and In­ters.
