Round one action in the newly renamed Joan Yuille-Williams San Fernando Netball League (JYWSFNL), starts Saturday with six matches scheduled at Skinner's Park from 9 am.
The 77th edition of the league opened on June 22 at the Southern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Pleasantville when the announcement was made of the renaming of the league to recognise the former minister's "exceptional and sustained" contribution to the sport of netball, particularly within the city of San Fernando according to the president of the league, Sherry-Ann Blackburn. Yuille-Williams is the current Patron of the League.
The Southern Netball Academy Point Fortin (SNA P/F) club has already picked one title for the season, winning the march past title ahead of Ambassadors and Youth All Stars, respectively, on the opening day.
Today, SNA P/F's Beginners' team will jump into action in the second match of the morning against Couva Anglican Primary School at 9.45 am following the opening match between Les Enfants and Chaguanas United at 9 am.
Some 13 teams from eight clubs will take part in the league including Ambassadors, Chaguanas United, Couva Anglican Primary, Les Enfants, SNA P/F, SNA South East (S/E), based in Mayaro, SNA Princes Town/Moruga (P/M) and Youth All Stars.
